Richards, Ralph J. 1916-2003 Unadilla NY Obituary

Ralph J. Richards

UNADILLA — Ralph J. Richards, 86, of the town of Unadilla, N.Y., died Thursday, March 27, 2003, at his home.
He was born Sept. 24, 1916, in Hartwick, N.Y., the son of Frank and Minnie Bell (House) Richards.
He was married to Lillian Kumpikas. He was then married to Margaret Hall, who died Sept. 12, 1988.
He served his country in the U.S. Army in the 5th Armored Division (Military Police). He served in the European Theater of Operations during World War II.
He was employed as a machinist at the Scintilla/Bendix Corp. for many years. He was a member of Moose Lodge 277 of Sidney as well as the International-Brotherhood of Aerospace Workers.
Ralph is survived by his children, Carol Fazio of Sarasota, Fla., Larry F. Richards and wife Nancy of Knoxville, Tenn., Gordon J. Richards and wife Rita of Ceperley Avenue, Oneonta, N.Y., Dennis P. Richards and wife Lynn of Middleburgh, N.Y.; three sisters, Viola Harrington of Garrattsville, N.Y., Dora Osborne of Gilbertsville, N.Y., and Minnie Pope and husband Elsor of Mount Upton, N.Y.; and one brother, Herbert Richards of South New Berlin, N.Y. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Mike, Steve, Tim and Chris Fazio, Kevin, Kristin, Casey Richards, Kristen Clevenger, Todd, Adam, Derek, Scott, Mathew Richards, and Lisa Kirchhoff; several great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by a son, Morgan Lee Richards, who died Dec. 22, 1947.
Calling hours will be from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday, March 31, at the Johnston Funeral Home in Morris, N.Y.
The funeral service will also be held at the funeral home at 6 p.m. on Monday.
Burial and committal services with military honors will be held at a later date in the Hillington Cemetery in Morris.
Those who wish are asked to donate to the Mount Upton Emergency Squad in Ralph's memory.
Funeral arrangements are by the Johnston Funeral Home of Morris.

Fazio, Augustine J. 1937-2002 Unadilla NY Obituary

Augustine J. Fazio

UNADILLA — Augustine "Gus" J. Fazio, 65, of Unadilla, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, Tuesday evening, April 2, 2002, at his home.
He was born Jan. 29, 1937, in Brooklyn, the son of the late Agostino and Anna (Bucolla) Fazio.
He was married to Kathleen Mary Valentine on Dec. 3, 1960, in Morris.
He served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1958.
Gus was employed as an auto mechanic for the former Stilson Brother's service station in Unadilla, a self-employed trucker and a mechanic for Catskill Tractor, Inc., of Franklin.
He loved nature and the outdoors, was an avid hunter and enjoyed woodworking.
He will be remembered by his friends and family as the ultimate handyman.
Gus is survived by his wife, Kathleen Mary Fazio, of Unadilla; his son and daughter-in-law, James and Sandra Fazio of Unadilla; his daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen (Kate) and Kevin Theobald of Holly Springs, N.C., and daughter, Rebecca (Becky) Davy; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas and Bonnie Fazio of Sarasota, Fla., Anthony and Jeri Fazio of Sarasota, Fla., and Joseph and Joan Fazio of Schenectady; his sisters, Frances Wilson of Sarasota, Fla., and Anna Lonstein of Brattleboro, Vt.; his grandchildren, Timothy, Jeffrey and Andrew Fazio, Cameron Theobald, Michaela, Joshua and Adam Davy; also several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Jerome and Michael Fazio; and a sister, Theresa Letizia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, April 6, 2002, at Sacred Heart Church, Sidney, with the Rev. Gordon A. Polenz, pastor, officiating.
Burial will be later in Evergreen Hill Cemetery, Unadilla.
Friends may call at their convenience after 3 p.m., Friday, April 5, 2002, at the Westcott Funeral Home, 123 Main St., Unadilla. The family will be in attendance from 7 to 9 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Catskill Area Hospice, 542 Main St., Oneonta NY 13820.
Funeral arrangements are by the Westcott Funeral Home, Unadilla.

PS  I know his brother Michael is buried at Hillington Cemetery in Morris NY as well as several more
family members.  Somewhere, I have photos of their headstones and will add the links when I find them.
