John Isler of Sidney Dies

Sidney---John Isler, 2 Union, died at his home Sunday at 6:20 am after an illness of three weeks, part of which time he was a patient in Sidney hospital, receiving treatment for a heart ailment. Friends may call at Carr-Landers funeral parlors Monday after 5 pm. Funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 in Hoboken, N. J, where ceremonies will take place.
Mr. Isler was born in Hoboken May 21, 1888. Coming to Sidney several years ago, he was at one time employed in the Kayser silk mill. About 23 years ago, he returned to Hoboken where he resided in that city and Westwood, N. J., until four years ago, when he came back to Sidney to work as an accountant at Scintilla.
Surviving are his wife, the former Miss Anna R. C. Kleen; two sons, Corp. Edward Isler, in England, and Robert Isler, a teacher in Lyons Falls; three sisters, Mrs. Ralph N. Herring, and Miss Anna Isler, New York, and Mrs. John Thornton, Sidney; and a granddaughter. Many friends extend sympathy to the family.

Lad of 15 Dies After Eating Food
Found on Sidney Village Dump

Sidney, March 17 (special)---Clifford Oliver, 15 years old, a student in the sixth grade of the Sidney school, died at Sidney hospital Friday night of ptomaine poisoning which it is though resulted from eating food found on the village dump The lad attended school Wednesday, but it was noticed that he was not feeling well. Late Friday he was taken to the hospital where death followed in a few hours. Dr. P. S. Young and Dr. R. H. Loomis of Sidney both attended the lad but found he was beyond help.
Clifford Oliver was born in McDonough May 22, 1920, and had lived there until the family moved to Sidney some months ago. Surviving are his father, Charles E. Oliver, and five brothers and sisters. The body was taken to McDonough for funeral and interment Monday.
The family will have the sincere sympathy of the whole community in the unfortunate accident.

Clifford's mother was Mary G. (Aiken) Oliver who died in 1930. Clifford as well as his father and mother are buried at Union Cemetery in McDonough, Chenango County, NY.

WILLIAM ALTON GOULD
DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS

William Alton Gould, a conductor and yardmaster on the Ontario & Western Railroad for 52 years, died at his home at 12 River Street, Monday, following an illness of about six months.
Funeral services were held at 9:30 a. m., Thursday at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Sidney. The Rev. R. D. Malany, rector, officiated. Burial will be in Forest Hills Cemetery, Utica.
Mr. Gould was born at Vernon January 9, 1879, son of Otis and Orissa (Clark) Gould. He married Florence Hart. He was a resident of Sidney for 23 years and a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church.
He was also a member of Norwich Masonic lodge, the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen and the Order of Railroad Conductors.
Besides his wife he is survived by a stepson, Hart Tachen of Syracuse and two sisters, Mrs. L. C. Ross of LaFayette, Indiana, and Mrs. Grace Easterbrook, of San Diego, California and also several nieces and cousins.

Passed away May 17, 1948 at Sidney, N. Y.
