Waite, Lee L. 1933-2003 Director of Otsego County Fair More Than 30 Years.

EDMESTON — Lee L. Waite, 70, of Edmeston, passed away Monday, Sept. 15, 2003, at his home in Edmeston.
He was born April 10, 1933, in Pittsfield, the son of Arthur and Ethel (Patrick) Waite.
He married Avis Stephens on Sept. 19, 1959.
Lee was a dairy farmer and cattle hauler. He had a love of horses especially draft, and enjoyed watching horse shows, pulls, etc.
Lee served as a director of the Otsego County Fair for more than 30 years and was later made honorary director.
Lee was a member of the Second Baptist Church in Edmeston and the Wharton Valley Grange.
Lee also instilled strong moral values to his offspring; with the help of his wife, Avis, they provided a homestead of love. Lee's grandchildren provided him with the special joy of spoiling and then sending them home to their parents.
He will be remembered by many for his smile, his humor and his steadfastness through the many trials of his life.
Lee is survived by his wife of 43 years, Avis; his children and their spouses, Ethel and Robin Diehl, Barb and Rick Bateman, Lauren and Tammy Waite, James and Brenda Waite and Melanie Burchill; his eight grandchildren, Preston, Darcy, Lance, Sabrina, Hannah, Bryden, Taylor and Josie; and one great-grandchild, Brooke; his brothers, Earl Waite of East Syracuse, and Roger Waite of Evansville, Ind.; and numerous nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.
A reception in memory of Lee will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, 2003, at the Edmeston Fire House, Edmeston. Luncheon to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lee's memory to either the Second Baptist Church, 7 North St., Edmeston or the Edmeston Emergency Squad. Envelopes will be available at the firehouse.
